Katie Ross (stroke seat): Captain Katie Ross, class of 2014, is a Government and Asian Studies double major from Eden Prarie, Minnesota. After 4 years of rowing for Bowdoin, Katie Ross is excited to round out her collegiate rowing career on the Thames, and is most looking forward to lining up at Temple Island with some of the best crews in the world and knowing the boat can hang with them.
Emily Martin (3 seat): Emily, class of 2015, is a Psychology and Gender and Women’s studies double major from Litchfield, New Hampshire. This is her 1st year rowing. Her favorite coxswain call is “Let’s get outta here!!”
Courtney Payne (2 seat): Courtney, class of 2015, is an Earth and Oceanographic Science and Spanish double major from Sunnyvale, California. This is her 4th year rowing, and her favorite memory is of racing through rough conditions to win Dad Vail’s Open 4+ category.
Mary Bryan Barksdale (bow seat): MB, class of 2015, is a Gender and Women’s Studies and Earth and Oceanographic Science double major from Oxford, Mississippi. Captain for the upcoming school year, MB can’t wait to finish her 3rd year of rowing by racing on the Thames. Her favorite coxswain call is, “How fast can you get to the finish line?”
Sophie Berube (coxswain): Sophie, class of 2016, is a Math major from Montreal, Canada. This is her 4th year rowing. Her favorite rowing memory is of racing this lineup for the first time, against the 2nd Varsity Men at the beginning of the season.
Nora Hefner (stroke seat): Nora, class of 2016, is a Biology and Environmental Studies coordinate major from Gill, Massachusetts. This is her 7th year rowing.
Erica Hummel (3 seat): Erica, class of 2016, is a Government major from Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. This is her 2nd year rowing, and she’s most looking forward to hearing all the British accents.
Amy Spens (2 seat): Amy, class of 2015, is a Biology and Anthropology double major from Seattle, Washington. This is her 2nd year rowing. Her favorite coxswain call is “Kill your demons.”
Audrey DeFusco (bow seat): Audrey, class of 2016, is a Biology major and Chinese minor from Cheshire, Connecticut. This is her 1st year rowing at Bowdoin. Her favorite rowing moment is when, after rowing with eyes closed, the boat becomes set and sounds well-connected.
Maddy Livingston (coxswain): Maddy, class of 2016, is a Anthropology and Government double major from Columbus, Ohio. This is her 2nd year rowing, and her favorite memory was of coxing the WN4+ to victory in their first race in the fall.
Liza Tarbell (single sculls): Liza, class of 2017, is an Asian Studies and Government major from New York City. This is her 1st year rowing. Her favorite memory was the feeling she had in the last 250m at Dadvail, swinging together in the final sprint—believing in each other, flying! Liza’s favorite coxswain call is “Right here, right now!” She’s most excited about being the loudest, most excited cheering section on the Thames, and doing all that she can to support the team all the way to the finish line as the polar bears take England!
